St Ashley’s Mazar DOG x Black DOG’s Gift (mom’s female)

There are some brilliant and dedicated humans in the world that work with cannabis, and at the top of that list is my friend Deepak AKA irazinig of Indian Landrace Exchange and Full Power Selections. I have the utmost appreciation and respect for his work preserving, documenting and continuing the truly unique relationship humans have shared with cannabis.

He has shared many interesting varieties with me from many different geographies. In 2018 he shared some Mazar-i-Sharif seeds that grew some stunningly beautiful plants with extremely large broad leaves. In 2019 I crossed a gorgeous female Mazar with Black DOG BC 6. My dog Ashley passed away at the same time as this. She was buried in the yard, adorned with compost, flowers and the beautiful, broad and massive Mazar leaves before being returned to the living soil. The next day I planted the pollinated Mazar plant in the soil above where she laid rest.

I shared this with Deepak and he remarked on the beauty and asked me if I knew what Mazar meant. I said no and he said it means grave or shrine. Mazar-i-Sharif means grave of the saint.

There stood the beautiful Mazar plant, pollinated with Black Dog above her grave like a shrine connecting the heavens with the earth, and I said. Ashley was a saint.

The next year I grew some of the most beautiful plants from the seeds produced from Ashley’s grave. I kept a selection from a truly exceptional plant with big broad beautiful leaves that easily turn black purple on top and crimson purple on the underside, reminiscent of a redwood sorrel. She showed remarkable resistance and grew with vigor. Her flowers smell like a funky, spicy, sweet and sour sir marks-a-lot marker and can go quite dark in low temperatures. Truly one of the most unique and beautiful plants I have been blessed to connect with.

Last year I crossed the St. Ashley’s Mazar DOG selection with my favorite males from last year that I call mom’s (black dog) gift.

Black DOG’s Gift – Mom’s herb selection

The stud pictured was selected out of my mom’s males from this year’s garden.

My mom grew beautiful seed plants this summer. She ended up with a good number of males so I came down with some more ladies in the back seat and brought my favorite boys home.

They were all very handsome, but one of the Black DOG’s Gift was just stunning.

This beautiful boy checked all the boxes for strength, structure, resistance, euphoric stem rub and a radiant glow of health. The flowers set up so large, full and productive as the giant thick leaves turned from green to purple and gold.

The finished flowers from the females are gas forward on a pillow of black berry cake and a sip of sprite.
